Things to Consider

Location

Your sign’s location is the biggest factor in determining the size, materials and options you choose. Will it need to stand up to the elements? Will it compete with other signage?

Ideal Size

How far will your customers be from your sign’s location? What kind of space do you have available for signage? What is the length of the message you plan to include on it?

Budget

Knowing that your sign communicates your brand values to your customers and represents your company in their minds, how much are you planning to invest in your signs?

What are your colors ?

Your colors needs to do double duty—represent your brand in your customers’ eyes and stand out clearly and visually so they can identify your location quickly and easily.

Standard or Illuminated

Depending on your location, it may be well worth it to invest in illuminated signs. Illuminated signs market to passersby, making a bold nighttime impression long after business hours.

Sizing + Visibility Guide

A good rule of thumb for sign letter readability is one inch in height for every 10 feet of viewing distance. That’s to say, If you want a sign to be legible from 100 feet away, the height of your letters should be 10 inches. If your viewers are 500 feet away and traveling by car, you should look at sign letter height of 50 inches.
